Services

Worship begins at 11:00 on Sunday morning. Our worship service has four distinct parts:

  • Gathering in God’s Name – We call ourselves to communal worship. We confess our sins together and are assured of God’s pardon.
  • Proclaiming God’s Word – We introduce the Scripture topic for children, hear the Word of God, and receive the pastor’s message.

  • Responding to God’s Grace – We give back our offerings to God and the church, and we affirm what we believe.
  • Departing to Serve – We are blessed to go and serve the Lord.

Worship Music

Each part of worship includes different hymns each Sunday that the congregation sings together from the hymnal. The adult choir leads the singing in worship year round, accompanied regularly by the organ or piano and occasionally with flute or harp. The handbell choir adds special musical selections around the holidays.

Communion

The Lord’s Supper is the sign and seal of eating and drinking in communion with the crucified and risen Lord. Around the Table, God’s people are in communion with Christ and with all who belong to Christ. Communion is served during worship throughout the year. Several times a year, Communion will also be taken to the homes of any church members who cannot come to church for worship due to age, illness, or disability.

Baptism

In Baptism, the Holy Spirit binds the Church in covenant to its Creator and Lord. Baptism is God’s gift of grace and also God’s summons to respond to that grace. Baptisms are conducted through consultation with the pastor and are approved by the Church Session. Requests for Baptisms may be made at any time, and the sacrament is held during Sunday morning worship.

Community Worship

Several times a year, FIPC shares in worship with other churches in our community in addition to our Sunday morning worship at 11:00 AM. Those include lunches with a short service on Wednesdays during the season of lent, a sunrise service on Easter Sunday, and a community Thanksgiving service on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. These services are held at different churches each year.

Flowers

Church members have the opportunity to donate the flower arrangements at the front of the sanctuary most Sundays of the year. Many people do this in memory or honor of loved ones or in recognition of special anniversaries, and it will be listed as such in the bulletin for that service.

To sign up for a flower donation arrangement, make a note on an open date in the calendar on the wall outside the church office. Contact Tracy Ricard to discuss your specific flower arrangements. The cost to provide flowers for one Sunday is $60.00. payable online or by check to Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church. If you request a special flower be used in your arrangements, the cost may be slightly higher. Once payment has been received, sign up is complete!

After the service, the flowers will be taken to those on the care and concern list unless otherwise requested by the donor.
